I’ve been a little frustrated lately with the slow down in weight loss. Not enough to quit the plan of course – too many good things have come from it. But I want to learn more – why has my weight loss slowed down, why do I have some days where I’m full of energy, other days when not so much? I came across The Whole 9 website and book and bought it this morning for my ipad. On the website, it talks about a 30 day challenge which is called the Whole30. A lot of it is based on things P and I have already learned and experienced on our own journey. But what I like about what I read on the site is that it goes deeper into the health benefits of eating NOTHING but whole, healthy foods. From their website, they outline what the program is designed to do:
- Physical benefits – improved body composition, energy levels, sleep quality, attention span, mental attitude and athletic performance.
- Psychological benefits – changing long-standing, unhealthy patterns related to food, eating and your body image, and a dramatic reduction or elimination of food cravings, particularly sugar and carbohydrates.
There are lots of testimonials on the site, many with familiar stories to mine. So I have decided to do the 30 day challenge. It is not too different than what I am eating now, but does cut out the last of the carbs and sugars that may be still causing problems for me. For example, peanuts and dairy.
I’m off to Whole Foods this morning to stock up! And feeling excited about trying this : )
