Powering through when you hit a plateau

When you are trying to lose weight and get to a plateau, it is really frustrating! Actually, I wasn’t even sure that such a thing existed although I’ve read plenty of articles and forums where people say they do and they experienced them. When it comes to weight loss, what works and what doesn’t – well what you read on the internet is all over the place so it’s hard to know what is true and what is not!

Since P and I have started this blog, I’ve also been logging my foods and weight at My Fitness Pal and today discovered an interesting thing on my progress chart. D's-weight-progress

If you look at this chart, you can clearly see two plateaus, each lasting about the same time. (The very first long line is from before we started.) This is going to be extremely helpful for me next time I hit a plateau because I can see about how long it will last. My lesson here will be not give up, get frustrated and quit but indeed, power though!

  1. The chart is very interesting – it always helps to be able to actually visualize trends. I’m sure this will help you power through, and then be mentally prepared once it happens again.

  2. So you girls have inspired me. I had some errands to run after work and knew I would not get home till around 7pm and would be starving. In the past I would have picked up a bag of peanut m&m’s at Target but I planned ahead this time. I had a bag full of really tasty cherry tomatoes!

    • Way cool! We’re glad that you’re able to change habits for a healthier way of life even when you don’t need to lose weight!
