I wish it were that easy – just erase the last two weeks and all the carbs, sugar, chips, chocolate and other really bad foods won’t count!
As we all know, it doesn’t work that way. The Holiday Festivities Foods (hereinafter “HFF”) are undermining my best intentions with a vengeance – as if I am engaged in a power struggle with them! It’s my mind reminding me that I feel soooo much better and alive when I stick with this plan, vs. the HFF telling me how good they taste – and things like “Come on, relax – it’s the Holiday Season!” I listened to the HFF both Friday and Saturday night at various festivities!
This has not only made my achy joints start to come back, but heartburn is showing up again – not to mention my smaller jeans are getting uncomfortable!
I have had to dial way back to the early basics and just make the right choices one moment at a time and one meal at a time. So, today, for the first time in 14 days, I have had a 100% on-plan day:
Breakfast: Hericots Verts sautéed with pepperoni, kalamata olives and feta cheese:
I had a non-profit board lunch-meeting and we were supposed to all bring something. Last month when we had this meeting, I succumbed to chocolate covered cookies and crackers. This time, I brought Gyros meet and a Greek salad from a fast-food Greek place I like – it was all I needed to stay focused (it tasted better than it looked!):
For dinner, I had taken some of the left-over Greek salad so I ate it again – I really like this salad!:
For dessert – I made diet hot chocolate with a little heavy cream – this is what I used to have for a sweet treat when we first started this! I forgot to take a picture.
With a good day under my belt – I’m going to bed early so that I can get up when I wake up!
