P’s Proud Day [Tuesday, July 15]

Some may think this is a trivial thing to feel proud about, but those people don’t understand my frustration with myself for many years now due to never sticking with an exercise program.

Each year, as I attempt, and then fail, to properly train for my triathlon, I download this 10-week beginner Tri-Training for a sprint triathlon.

I always change the days, the training session, or find various excuses not to follow exactly what it says – but not today!

Since I only have 8 weeks until my race, I had to start this plan on the 4th week.  Yesterday was easy because it was a day off according to the training plan – I took advantage of the day off by doing my mini-strength training session (pushups, etc.).

So today, I had to both run and swim.  I have NEVER been able to coax myself into two sessions in a day.  This morning I ran.  And then, despite (1) not leaving the office until 8p.m. and (2) still having a contract review to do since it is due first thing in the a.m., I stopped by the gym and swam the listed distance!

When I got home, I warmed up some left over curry chicken and then got right to that contract.

It’s now 11:15 p.m. and I am so ready for bed ….. and feeling so proud of myself!

  1. I’m proud of you too! I need to kick up my exercise routine…. getting a bit “fluffy” around the middle! You have motivated me to “get moving” more in the evening!
